Core intentions
Core intentions need to be nurtured. Who I want to be won't just happen. I can arrange my life in such a way as to give myself and others the illusion of intentional living. This is made apparent to me in daily reflection. After a period of being "carried along" by random stimuli, even in the midst of an intentional routine, I can at times feel numb. Reaction after reaction wears on the soil of my spirit and I become less of who I intend to be. I am fully aware that routine is essential for nurturing the inner life, however routine is often confused with intentionality. For this reason, my core intentions must be called out over and over again. For this reason I need an occasional break from the routine... and so I'm off to San Juan. Mike and Debby said lets go! Mom and Dad said they would care for the kids. I asked the boys to think about how they would like their dad to BE when he got home. Essentially, if I could leave a bad habit, a short fuse, something ugly in Puerto Rico, what would it be? I am not my bad habits. I am not my iritabiliy. Grace and Peace... and Change.
