today is a good day.

Jesus' story of the lost son (Luke 15:11b-32) is clearly shaped by the experience of the ‘lost’ children of Israel - the lost and reclaimed children of the forgiving God. (Joshua 5:9-12).

So today we will sow seeds for a garden. It will hopefully produce food. I'm sure the children of Israel were hopeful as they planted those first crops in the land of Canaan.

See the winter is past
and the cooing of the doves is heard

"On the day after the passover, on that very day, they ate the produce of the land, unleavened cakes and parched grain. The manna ceased on the day they ate the produce of the land, and the Israelites no longer had manna; they ate the crops of the land of Canaan that year"

I love this time of year.
